Forest Lichens

Posted by
Anina Botes (Auckland, New Zealand) on 22 July 2010 in Plant & Nature.

This winter they seem to be flourishing in my garden.

Today I decided to make the best of this cold, wet winter weather and in-between showers (of rain) I was spending some time in the garden, not with garden tools… but with my camera of course :-) I don’t know if it’s only me, but I find that when I am armed with my camera I look at things differently. Like for instance the lichen… Today I realized how much lichen was actually growing in my garden at the moment… almost as if it’s the first time I was really seeing it…

Life is such a rat race and sometimes we forget to slow down and notice the small things in life.

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time." ~ J. Lubbock

"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." ~ Attributed to both Jim Goodwin and Sydney J. Harris
